Visiting Copenhagen for the first time?
Hi friends!
The date is getting closer and closer! We have finally managed to book our plane tickets for this summer. It would be nice to come to our own wedding, don't you think? I thought so.
For those who are new to the beautiful city of Copenhagen, there's this website from the Danish tourism organization http://www.visitdenmark.com/en-us/denmark/tourist-frontpage-usa
It talks about popular things to do, must see places, traditions and even a few Danish cultural tips (Hygge?)
Make sure you take a look and I'm sure you can find a lot of useful information on that website. And also, if you are curious which neighborhoods you should visit, click on this picture at the top of this post. It describes the features of these unique neighborboods. Hopefully, you will feel very welcome by the complicated looking Danish characters and pronunciations!
Xoxo,
Angela

Where to stay?--- Hotel Info---
Time is ticking! The counter below this blog page shows that we are only 100 days away from the big day! It's time to get your planning mode on and start booking plane tickets and hotels!
We mentioned previously about reserving a block of rooms for our international guests. However, recent researches have indicated that online booking websites may offer better discounts than we were able to negotiate. We have done our research and came up with a list of few hotel choices, and are sharing them here to give you all some ideas.
First of all, it all depends on your budget. Copenhagen generally has a higher living cost, and moderate hotels usually are ranging from DKK 800 to DKK 1200. Breakfast usually are not included, and can be costly if you order breakfast separately. So be sure to check if breakfast is included for the price.
Second, location, location and location! Luckily, the size of downtown Copenhagen is quite manageable. There isn't such thing as "too far from the city". The core downtown area goes from the train station/Tivoli in the west to the Royal residence Kastelskirken on the peninsula. Further out north from Frederiksberg, Nørrebro, west to Vesterbro and south to Amagerbro area, are popular residential area. There will be substantially less tourists, but you may be able to find more vacation rental and hostels with charming neighborhoods. We will have shuttle bus to pick up our guests from a central location to the wedding castle. It is most likely to be somewhere close to the downtown area.
Third, transportation. Copenhagen is 100% bicycle friendly. It's very convenient and safe to cycle around the city. Downtown hotels will allow you to walk to most attractions. If you are planning on staying in further out areas, please look for hostels or vacation rentals that may have bicycles as rentals. It's much more convenient to bike than to take bus or metro trains.
These two websites offer the best selection and price:
First Hotel Twentyseven
Longangstraede 27, City Center / Stroget, Copenhagen, Denmark 1468
First Hotel Vesterbro
Vesterbrogade 23 - 29, Tivoli, Copenhagen, Denmark 1620
First Hotel Kong Frederik
Vester Voldgade 25, City Center / Stroget, Copenhagen, Denmark 1552

[A: These are my favorites. Very centrally located (Kong Frederik and Twentyseven), and modern Danish design interior. Posh. Period. And very much affordable.]
That being said, that's just Angela's thoughts. If you have any questions or want to learn more about hotels and areas, please feel free to let us know! Rest be sure, there's not too many "unsafe" or "high crime" areas in Copenhagen. Of course, common sense is still needed when traveling alone and late at night, but most of all, Copenhagen is a relatively safe and secure city.

Look at the cute couple! If Soren and I get older, maybe we will look like them too? And thank goodness we are getting married during the summer instead of winter. But yea, how lovely it is. Look at the shots they have for Copenhagen! Now my heart is completely melted.
Are you guys excited???
XoXo,
Angela

Happy 2013!
Happy 2013!
We had a great time vacationing in Denmark over Christmas and the New Year's holiday, and we got a lot of wedding planning done!
First of all, the biggest and most exciting news everyone has been waiting for: THE CASTLE!
We finally visited the castle ourselves in December and saw it for the first time. Soren's parents were nice enough to have visited the castle for us earlier in the year and made reservations for this special day. They sent us lots of pictures of the castle, but nothing is as exciting as seeing it with your own eyes!
The castle is Næsbyholm, located in Næsby, around 5 km outside of Sorø on Sjælland (Zealand). Næsbyholm was built by Steen Brahe and Birgitte Rosenkrantz in 1585 although they only lived there briefly. It was later bought by King Frederik IV in 1709 for his mistress Charlotte Helene Von Schindel, who lived in luxury as the countess Næsbyholm and the surrounding estates. Recently, Næsbyholm has also been used as a set of a new TV series!
For all the international guests, we'll be providing transportation to and from the castle for the wedding.

We'd like everybody to have as much fun as possible on the night of the wedding and we have therefore made arrangements for all of us to spend the night at the castle and have brunch together in the morning. A double room is DKK 1100 (HKD 1527, USD 198) and, depending on preference, can be set up with separate or joined beds. There are also a few rooms with space for three people. Due to the layout of the castle (it's old!), there are mostly double rooms available in and around the main building, so contact us for more information if you have special requests.
Please contact Soren to arrange payment and in order for us to minimize any transaction fees for our foreign guests. We will do our best to pair friends and families in the same room.
If you do not intend to spend a night at the castle, please let Soren know as soon as possible.
For our international guests staying in Copenhagen prior to the wedding, we have found a few hotel options there as well and will post them soon for you to select and plan your trip.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions!
'Till then!
